What happens in the first session?
The first session typically focuses on what brings you to therapy, relevant history, current symptoms and supports, safety, goals, and what you would like to be different. We also discuss treatment options and whether the fit feels appropriate.
Which type of therapy will we use?
That depends on your goals and needs. I use an integrative approach drawing from CBT, trauma-focused CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, motivational interviewing, person-centered, and solution-focused work. We can discuss why a particular approach may or may not fit your situation.
Can I use the free resources if I am not a client?
Yes. The psychoeducation and skills handouts on this website are free to access. They are educational tools, not individualized treatment or a substitute for professional assessment, emergency care, or therapy.
What if I am in crisis?
This website is not monitored for emergencies. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
